The Academic Centre
The Legacy of the Soviets walk lasts from two to three hours. It will involve some travel by tram (fares extra) and costs 10 lat for an individual tour - plus 5 lats for each additional person (with the fifth person free) - For example a group of four or five will pay only 25 lat.



The tour commences at the Statue to the Red Riflemen and will take in such sights as the towering Academic Centre, which opened in 1958 as a "gift from the people of Russia to the people of Latvia."



The Soviet War Memorial where every May unreconstructed Russians still meet



Tornkalns railway station from which so many Latvians, including thousands of women and children were deported to Siberia.
